STEP-BY-STEP AMIGA EMULATOR GUIDE

DISC & GUIDE UPDATED - NOVEMBER 2011

PLEASE NOTE: For now the pictures/screen shots are really big with lots of white on them, this is still good for the purpose, but I like things to look neat, and so as soon as I work out what's gone wrong I will tidy this site up, but for now, it should help anyone who has had a disc delivered this week, thank you

Below is an in-depth guide to help you with running your first emulation from your DVD.

These instructions are the same for ALL WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEMS inc..

Windows 2000, XP, Vista & Windows7.

ALL SCREEN SHOTS ON THIS GUIDE HAVE BEEN MADE USING THE WINDOWS XP OPERATING SYSTEM. If you use a different version of windows then the look on your PC may look slightly different, but you should not have any problems working out what options to select as you follow this guide, but do let us know (through eBay messages) if you get stuck.

STEP 1

First off we RECOMMEND that you copy the whole Amiga disc to your computer. This is for a number of reasons with the main one being to check the disc has not been damaged in the post..

There are, sometimes, problems sending DVD's through the post, where royal Mail scanners can damage DVD's (Even original movie DVD's) so by copying the whole disc over to your computer we can check, right from the off, that the disc is not damaged.

If the whole disc copies over with no problems then the disc is fine,

If it comes up with any error messages, usually saying a file is corrupt or can not be read, then it probably means the disc has been damaged in the post, In which case just check the play side is not dirty (If it is then give it a gentle wipe from the centre out to the edge, and try again) if it is clean and scratch free then all you need to do is tell me what you have done to check, and that it wont copy over, and a replacement will be sent asap.

ALSO BY COPYING THE DISC OVER AND RUNNING FROM YOUR PC, instead of from the disc, it will run faster, you can put the disc away safe as its not needed once on your pc, unless you want to install it on another pc, OR if you delete any games from your pc, and decide later you wish to play them. then you can just copy them back off the disc. this will also keep your disc always in new condition, as long as you store it safely.

HOW TO COPY THE DVD OVER...

Insert the DVD into your PC's DVD drive,

the DVD should auto-play and after a few seconds you will see the following menu:

(PLEASE REMEMBER ALL SCREEN SHOTS IN THIS GUIDE MAY DIFFER SLIGHTLY TO WHAT YOU SEE ON YOUR COMPUTER, THIS IS DUE TO WHAT PROGRAMS YOU HAVE INSTALLED, YOUR OWN PERSONAL SETTINGS AND WHAT OPERATING SYSTEM YOU ARE USING)

Select the 'open folder to view files' option, if you choose anything else the dvd will not set-up correctly.

(IF IT DOES NOT AUTO PLAY, then go to, "my Computer" then double click the DVD drive)

Then a new window will open looking like this...

(The instructions folder is only a very very basic instruction guide, and only any good as a quick reminder once you have read the step-by-step guide you are looking reading right now)

From this screen you need to just drag and drop the FILE caller "amega 2011" to your pc (sorry it spelt amega there instead of Amiga lol)

Probably the best place for now is to put it on your desk top,

so that's how we will explain, but you can move it to somewhere else on your pc later if you want.

to do this make sure you have the window in "restore down" smaller size (that's the middle button on the top right of the page next to the red x that closes it), and make sure can see the desk top behind the window, by losing, or minimising all other windows that are open, except the one showing the "amega 2011" folder.

Now click and hold your left mouse button on the folder "amega 2011", and just drag it to the desk top, and then let go of the mouse button

This will copy the whole DVD onto your pc. and depending on your computer will take about 20-40 mins.

Once its copied over you can remove the disc, as it is not needed from now on.

Right lets get playing now.

STEP 2

Find the file you have copied on our desk top called "amega 2011"

double click, to open it and..

You will now see the following window opened up:

Its quite simple really, in the games folder you will see all the different games, all sorted into there own folders in alphabetical order like this...

just have a look around in these folders till you find a game you would like to play.

Then go back to the first folder, showing the two files.. and this time open up the folder called "amega 2011", by double clicking it.

and you will see this screen now...

From this folder all you need to do is click the "winuae.exe" file (shown and highlighted in our next screen shot),

This is the main file to open up the emulator, and all the other files and folders are all used for the emulator to run, and should never be touched.

SO DOUBLE CLICK THE "winuae.exe" file...

AND YOU WILL NOW HAVE THE EMULATOR OPENED UP AND LOOKING SOMETHING LIKE THIS...

This is the emulator now open, So all we have to do, is select the correct options, select the game we want to play, and then away we play,

So first off we need to select the actual MODEL of console that the game was originally compatible with, now almost every game on the disc will work by selecting the Commodore Amiga Model "A600"

So select this (A600) from the drop down now...

Next We have to select the game we want to play,

For this Guide I have decided to open up and play a game I believe everyone knows, so I have chosen Packman.  I have already had a loo in the games folders and have seen that packman is there, and off course its in the "P" folder,. so we have to navigate to the that folder like this..

To select a game we first have to go to the section called "Emulated Floppy Drives"

and Click the Button titled "Select Disc Image"..

this button is shown below now...

Once you have clicked the "Select disc image" Button, a pop up search/navigation window will pop up..

So In this pop up window navigate to your Desk top...

Looking at the screen above, you can also click the desktop button on the left, if it is showing on your pc

Then find the folder that you dragged and dropped (copied over) from the disc earlier and select that, and then Select the games folder..

then the folder called "P" (for Packman)....

and then open the packman folder.....

SO NOW, you are in the game folder for the game you want to play and can see this...

(all of this above may look like it will take ages, but its only a few clicks and about 5 seconds once you know where the folder is.)

So our last step now we are in the game folder navigation is to select the game file and then click "Open" as shown below now..

AND THAT'S THE GAME SELECTED AND LOADED INTO THE EMULATOR READY

AND YOUR EMULATOR SHOULD LOOK LIKE THIS...

JUST DOUBLE CHECK THAT YOU HAVE SELECTED THE "A600" option under model, and then selected the correct game

And then press the "START" Button

and THAT'S IT, the game may take about 30seconds to load, but once you press start it will load up and open a new window with what ever game you have selected...

STEP 3 - controls

Please note that the mouse will be inactive, but can be re-activated by pressing the middle button of your mouse or ALT & TAB.

Some Games will use the mouse, so you will have to activate it in the way mentioned above, then if you want to say close the window, or go to another window you will have to de-activate it again, or the most will act as if its kind of stuck in the emulator screen.

With a bit of playing you will work out what is meant here, but if totally stuck do message us.

Controls differ from game to game, but most games use the number pad keys 2,4,6 and 8 with 5 as fire, if these keys do not work then please just play about to work out the keys for that game,

The example loaded above (Packman) actually uses the number pad keys 2,4,6 & 8 for directions, and the 5 key is start, and then pause.

so you may have to play about with each new game you play for a few seconds to just work out the controls, but remember for £3.50 this disc is very cheap, and we do offer our satisfaction guarantee too!

Unfortunately there are so many games in this collection that it is impossible for us to check and work out them all in advance sorry.

&

One or Two games may not work correctly, we are sorry in advance for this, but would be grateful if you could just drop us a friendly message letting us know so we can test and remove none working games from future discs,

HELP, QUERIES & CONTACTING US...
